It seems that a high calf market coupled with dry conditions started the calf run a little earlier than normal. The steer calves today sold steady basically across the board. Some 601lb exotic steers sold for $391.50/cwt, as well as some 427lb tan steers sold for $501/cwt.

The heifers today sold barely steady and felt a little softer in spots. One nice, big group of one-owner heifers weighing 480lb sold for $375/cwt.

The cow market today had a little jump to it; as one of the major packers became more active. The bulls sold 3-5c higher.
