Today saw a nice run of feeder cattle, as well as 400 cows and bulls. The light steer calves from $350-550 sold $4-5 lower and the 550-750 weight steers sold for $5-7 lower.

The heifer calves were the bright spot. They traded steady to $5 higher on the 400-550 range. The 550-750 weight heifers were $3-5 lower depending on quality and flesh.

The futures market has now pulled back roughly 20% from its peak in October and the cash market has ignored most of that thus far. Let's hope the cash can hold on and we can get some support from the board to end this fourth quarter.

The cows traded steady today, good cows from $125-132. Lean cows with not much cover traded $105-115. Shelly cows that have a limp are tough to sell. Bulls sold from $160-168 on heavy muscled, high yielding bulls. The flatter muscled bulls brought $145-155.

Check out the listing for the December 11th bred cow and heifer sale!
