Comments | Today we had 750 feeder cattle in the presort and the market as a whole was $5-7 stronger than last week. Over the past week or 10 days the cattle market has seemingly gotten stronger every day thanks to some bullish inventory reports and a down trend in the price of grains. How long this wave will continue is anyone's guess, but for right now it's great for the producers who no doubt deserve it. There were a lot of highlights today but one was a group of 989lb steers that brought $296.75/cwt. The heifer side saw the grass weight cattle getting a lot of attention. Some 550lb heifers pushing into the $355/cwt range leads me to believe there is a fair amount of optimism in this market long term. Cows today sold $5 stronger and bulls were fully steady. Next sale is February 7th and we will feature bred cows & heifers. Check out the website for the listings and details! - Jesse Lawes |
