This week in Vermilion, we had a light run of feeder cattle and 500 cows and bulls. The feeder cattle all sold very strong with 750lb heifers up to $4.75/lb and 900lb steers up to $4.20/lb.

Cows and bulls traded fully steady with most good cows bringing $220-235cwt. Some good, middle-aged cows were bringing up to $240cwt. Bulls traded mostly 250-265 with sales up to $270cwt.

Lots of calves are starting to sell for fall delivery at very impressive prices. Be sure to call any of the market reps if you would like to discuss fall pricing options.

Today's bred heifer and cow sale was very well attended and there were some top-quality bred females. The full sale results can be viewed by clicking the link, but the 1150-1300lb heifers brought $5000 - $5500 with sales up to $6000. The 1000-1150lb heifers traded mostly $4300 - $4900. The young cows traded from $4600 - $5000 with sales up to $5900. The more mature cows traded from $3200 - $4000.
