Comments

4855hd of cattle sold through the market in Vermilion today. Volumes are way higher than normal all across the country, likely explained by the fear of possible future tariffs from the U.S., as well as all time record high prices at the moment.

In the ring we had a terrific offering of some of the area's finest ranch calves, and they sold very strong, fully steady with last week's high volume sales. Very good demand was noted on lighter grass weight steers and replacement quality heifers.

The cows and bulls just sold steady; very little change in the cow market in the past 2 weeks.

Next week we have a presort Wednesday and then a bred cow sale on Saturday, January 25th.

Comments

Our last bred sale of 2024 was well attended. The offering was mostly cows, with a few bred heifers. The top quality heifers weighing over 1100lb brought $4500-5000, the 1000-1100lb heifers sold mostly $4000-4500, and heifers under 1000lb sold $3300-3600.

The dispersal cows sold were very well received. Young to middle aged cows sold from $4500-5000. Aged cows were $3500-4000.

Producers are looking for good quality females that have productive years left and they are willing to pay good money when they find them. We have a bred sale in February 2025, watch the calendar for specific dates!
