5377 head of cattle marketed through Vermilion this week. In the face of large numbers everywhere, the calf market held fully steady to $5 stronger on the middle weight steers. Some 550lb steers touched $700.00/cwt, as well as some 550lb heifers at $620.00/cwt.

The cows and bulls traded barely steady. Bulls were slightly lower. Feeding type cows were fully steady, and kill cows were $2-4 lower.

Our last bred sale of 2024 was well attended. The offering was mostly cows, with a few bred heifers. The top quality heifers weighing over 1100lb brought $4500-5000, the 1000-1100lb heifers sold mostly $4000-4500, and heifers under 1000lb sold $3300-3600.

The dispersal cows sold were very well received. Young to middle aged cows sold from $4500-5000. Aged cows were $3500-4000.

Producers are looking for good quality females that have productive years left and they are willing to pay good money when they find them. We have a bred sale in February 2025, watch the calendar for specific dates!
